Hi All,
Few days back I had installed Oracle 10g CRS on windows 2003 machine but due to automount of RAW device feature of windows 2003 being Disabled . I had to deinstall Oracle CRS .
To Deinstall a Failed CRS installation You should never deinstall it from OUI but follow the Steps below
If you have already uninstalled Oracle Clusterware using the Oracle Universal Installer then please contact Oracle Support for copies of the ‘logpartformat.exe’ utility and the ‘GUIOracleOBJManager.exe’.
Note: Steps 1a, b and d are only required if you are using RAW devices for your OCR and Votedisk
If you are using OCFS for these files, skip to step 1c followed by 1e.
1. Remove the partitions that have been initialized for ocrcfg and votedsk
a. You can view these using the Oracle provided tool: guioracleobjmanager.exe
Invoke the Oracle tool GuiOracleObjManager.exe to see the link names that have been assigned to your partitions:
- in Windows explorer, navigate to CRS_HOME\bin
- invoke guioracleobjmanager.exe by double clicking it
- this will give you a mapping of Oracle assigned link names and the physical disks they are assigned to
b. Use Services on Windows to stop OracleCSService, OracleEVMService and OracleCRService on each cluster node.
***THE FOLLOWING STEP IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESSFUL SUBSEQUENT RE-INSTALLATIONS***
c. Remove the formatting on these partitions using the Oracle provided tool: logpartformat.exe.
Invoke the Oracle tool logpatformat to reinitialize the headers of the disks you have specified for use as votedsk and ocrcfg
Example for RAW partitions:

- Go to a command prompt
- navigate to CRS_HOME\bin
run logpartformat /q
for example if the raw partition has the name ‘ocrcfg’:
logpartformat /q \\.\ocrcfg
(repeat this step for all link names listed in guioracleobjmanager)
Example for OCFS:
==============
- Go to a command prompt
- navigate to CRS_HOME\bin
run logpartformat /q
For example, if the drive letter for your OCFS partition is ‘ P ‘ :
logpartformat /q P:
d. Next, remove the assigned link names using the GUIOracleobjmanager.exe tool by placing a check mark in the check box for the given partition, then choosing ‘Commit’ from the ‘Options’ menu.
Go back to the guioracleobjmanager tool and remove all link names:
- place a check mark in the box preceding each link name / physical partition listed
- then go to the Options menu and click ‘commit’
- the link names should now be removed
e. It is advisable to to remove and recreate your logical drives on top of extended partitions at this time from Windows Disk Management.
f. Use Windows ‘Services’ to set the following services to Manual startup:
OracleCSService
OracleCRService
OracleEVMService
(if this step is not performed, the servers will hang on reboot while trying to start these services which will not start again once their underlying configuration files have been wiped away in step c here above)
g. Reboot all nodes after performing these steps. On Windows 2003, it is essential that you reboot the node where you have not performed these actions, this is because Windows will try to assign drive letters to these partitions on reboot, you must remove these drive letters before proceeding with a reinstall.
2. Use the Oracle Universal Installer to remove the software from the CRS home
3. Use the Oracle Universal Installer to remove the empty CRS home (cleans up the inventory file)
4. Remove Oracle binaries using Windows explorer, both the CRS home and the files located in c:\program files\oracle
6. Check the registry on each cluster node and ensure that the services have been removed:
Remove any Oracle related services that got created in the Windows registry in the following hive:
hkey_local_machine\system\current control set\services
OracleCSService
OracleEVMService
OracleCRService
OracleObjectService
OracleClusterVolumeService
OraFenceService
should all be removed at this point
8. Reboot all servers in your RAC configuration

As from the above alert log ora-19504 is caused due to Permission denied error as reported in the alert log.
Hence We need give appropriate permission to the partition “/ExtSD11/oracle/oradata” to avoid such error
# chown -R oracle:oinstall /ExtSD11/oracle/oradata
# chmod -R 775 /ExtSD11/oracle/oradata
Hence the above error was avoided
